About Us

About Us

My name is Nicole Ingleton and I own Appleyard Cattery. I have lived on the Isle of Sheppey for 19 years and have been married for over 178years to an islander.  I come from an island too: the island of Jersey.

A lover of all animals, I now have eleven cats of my own. I have had a considerable amount of experience caring for animals and used to run a small hedgehog sanctuary before my daughter (now eight years old) came along. She now likes to help mummy care for our cats, dog, ducks and geese. Since owning the cattery I have cared for all types of wonderful cats, such as Persians, British Blues, Maine Coons, Exotics, Siamese, Birmans, Burmese, Devon Rexes, American Ragdolls, Bengals and of all course the all favourite moggy. Some are already old timers.

The cattery is modern, secure, hygenic and is situated in a quiet rural setting. We only board cats. A lot of planning and detail has been incorporated into this newly-built cattery to offer high standard accommodation. You can rest assured that your cats will receive a lot of  T.L.C. whilst they board at Appleyard Cattery.

At the end of May 2010, I will celebrate  five years of opening. I would like to thank all of my regular customers and to welcome many more new ones. I certainly enjoy my job! I am so lucky to have so many feline friends!!

I have one permanent staff member - Jacki and also Grace, who works during her university  holidays. They are cat freaks, like myself and are guaranteed to give your cats a lot of attention.

 MY  CATS

These are some of my own cats: (sadly Simba had to be put to sleep in March 2006 and we miss him very much. He lies under an apple tree & he has flowers on his grave).

Sadly Wagner never returned two years ago: he was about 17 years old and I think he went somewhere quiet for his final passing. We miss him!!

Phoebe was put to sleep at the beginning of 2009.

This was taken on 21 May 2007. Queen Bee Pru, now realises that 7 year olds have their uses! Pru, our cat, who is blind, gets taken for a walk around our garden on her lead & very often accompanies me to the cattery. When she is feeling in a lazy mood she enjoys being taken around on my daughter, Rebecca's bike trailer. What more could a blind Persian want? She certainly gets a la carte service. Sadly Pru is no longer with us.

Introducing 10-week Berlioz, who feel in love with my daughter Rebecca 2 weeks ago at a local Cats Protection League Open Day. Ofcourse Rebecca adored him too. He is a livewire & wants to play 24/7. We are all covered in scratches head to toe, but he's worth it!! Berlioz is now 2 years old.

Just look how Berlioz has grown! This was taken in early January 2008.

Elgar & Wagner                                              Gerschwin & Phoebe

Dorabella, ten months old: born Good Friday 2006- female ginger beauty!

BAD NEWS!! My darling, darling Dorabella was killed on the road just before Xmas, only 18 months old! How I miss her!

Our Prudence, the Persian, who is blind, because of  previously untreated hypertension.  Poor little one was dumped in our road & was in a very bedraggled state. She certainly is Queen Bee now!

SADLY my beautiful Pru had to be put to sleep on September 16th 2008, because she was suffering from chronic renal failure. Apparently, Persians are prone to this problem. We still miss her terribly. The house seem empty! She will never be forgotten!

Introducing Rimsky & Korsakov  (Korsakov is the one sitting upright). Yes, they decided to keep still & pose for me at long last. Another rescued duo, found starving at a local caravan park. They have settled in well & we love them! They love to hang & catapault themselves from the beams in our renovated barn home.

Introducing China, my newest feline friend. We call her my demon (for anyone who has seen the excellent film, The Golden Compass).

Six of my gannets eating. You would think I starve them! I have never had a cat who

             doesn't enjoy their food.

Meet one of the three brothers recently born at our local Cat Protection  only 10 days old.

The Ingleton family will be having two of the boys, whom we will name Terra and Cotta (Terracotta). We cannot wait & are counting the days!

Same beautiful boys but 6 months on (Oct 2nd 2008). The left one is TERRA & the other one COTTA. They are a very crazy pair of cats and are so content! They are now over a year (May 2009)!

Look how happy my demon & my ginger boys are together!

This is my latest Tchaikovsky alias bully basher. He is the size of a lion cub & likes alot of fuss! You can see him, Elgar & Gerschwin at the cattery as they like to sit in the garden or the office! (May 2009)
